Big East Tournament

Big East Tournament

Seton Hall finished its regular season at 19-11 and on the NCAA Tournament bubble heading into the Big East tournament. Had you been a Pirates fan and read that sentence back in say, October, you would have signed on the dotted line. But that was before you knew the context. It changes everything.
Picked to finish 13th in the 16-team Big East, with just two seniors and in the second year of new coach Kevin Willard's tenure, Seton Hall wasn't supposed to be in the picture for the Big Dance when the season started. Then the wins started piling up. Reigning Final Four participant Virginia Commonwealth was a victim, as were quality sides St. Joe's and Dayton. When The Hall rebounded from a drubbing at the hands of then-No. 1 Syracuse to rattle off home wins over West Virginia and UConn, the talk started. Could Seton Hall keep this up? And if they could, could they end up you know where?
Less than a week after the UConn win, Seton Hall found itself nationally ranked for the first time since 2001. They won their first game as a ranked side over DePaul to get to 15-2, one of the best starts in the past 20 years for the team. Then, it went south. Six straight losses, albeit to generally good competition, and the team was back where it started. The streaky Pirates responded to win four of their next five, including a landmark home win over No. 8 Georgetown. With two games left in the regular season, all Seton Hall needed to do was beat bottom dwellers Rutgers and DePaul, and they'd clinch a tournament berth for the first time since 2006.
Not so fast.
Two of the most crushing losses in the school's recent history have put the Pirates in a precarious position heading into Tuesday's Big East Tournament opener against Providence. The Pirates likely need two victories to ensure that their name be called on Sunday. A loss to Providence ends the Pirates' hopes. A win over the Friars and a loss to 7 seed Louisville, and they'll have to sweat it out.
It's unfortunate because tournament appearances for Seton Hall have been few and far between. Willard finally has the program seemingly in the right direction after the tumultuous tenure of Bobby Gonzalez. He's brought a sense of team unity, hard work and respectability back to the program. But the team relies heavily on its two seniors, guard Jordan Theodore and forward Herb Pope. With the duo graduating after this season, the Pirates will be a question mark heading into next season.
But despite the late season slide, the season isn't over. The careers of Theodore and Pope have yet to be written. It's teetering on the edge, but the Pirates' destiny remains in their hands. Entering the Big East Tournament, they are squarely on the bubble. If they can find a way to reclaim the form that saw them jump out to a 15-2 record, that helped them defeat quality teams all season, then they have a great chance to win a few games and secure a bid.
It would be a great way for Theodore and Pope to end their careers. For Willard, it would be a landmark achievement in the second year of what's expected to be a long process of getting Seton Hall back to national prominence. A loss to Providence and an NIT bid? Perhaps it would be a learning experience for the young Pirates, for Willard and his coaching staff.
Yet for a team that had everything in its grasp just two weeks ago, it won't feel any good.

Vincent Jackson

Vincent Jackson

What could have been a loaded free agent wide receiver class lost some of its luster on Monday as two of the league’s top pass catchers were slapped with the franchise tag.
New England Patriots All-Pro Wes Welker and Kansas City Chiefs big-play man Dwayne Bowe were both tagged by their respective teams, joining Philadelphia Eagles speedster DeSean Jackson as potential free agents who will likely be staying up.
The San Diego Chargers were one of only 11 teams not to use their tag, and as a result, wide receiver Vincent Jackson will be an unrestricted free agent on March 13th — and he can expect plenty of offers.
While the Chargers would like to keep Jackson in San Diego, they used the tag on him last year and doing so again would require a salary-cap figure of about $13.7 million.
Now Jackson is free to explore his options, which may include the likes of the Redskins, Bears, Panthers, 49ers, Vikings, Seahawks and Bills.
The 29-year-old, two-time Pro Bowl selection caught 60 passes for 1,106 yards and nine touchdowns last season — his third 1,000-yard campaign in the last four years.
Other notable wideouts who may be on the move include Marques Colston (80-1,143-8), Brandon Lloyd (70-966-5) and Pierre Garcon (70-947-6).
What team would be the best fit for Jackson and where will the rest of these guys end up?

IPL Auction

IPL Auction
IPL Auction: IPL controversy - for example, complications in dealing with disputes for companies?
Theron in this country, including companies and is closely watching the IPL controversy and led Mr.Shari Tharoor to submit his resignation. There are many issues of concern in the entire episode and I want to shed light on the few issues as a classic example of the complexities in dealing with the issues of companies.
Any company that is in violation dealwith in the central government, the Council of the Companies Act, and the company if the court SEBI company is a listed company. We rarely see the central government Sue Moto start proceedings against the company, usually sins may be questioned at the Council before the Company Law Corporation Court, and when SEBI company is a listed company.

It is the case to highlight as everyone knows with tweeting done by Mr. Lalit Modi, saying that Mr. Shashi Tharoor had called him not to insist on students who are all shareholders in Kochi franchise. At first, the people behind the franchise Kochi made a public statement that they acted in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 1956, and corporate systems. Then, little by little, and even the media and discuss the issue of violation of the provisions of the Companies Act 1956, in the granting of stock Shunanda race for Pushkar.

Facts such as:

1. Rendezvous Sports World Ltd is a private limited company, and that it had granted 70 billion rupees to the value of shareholders' equity Pushkar Shunanda claiming to have expertise and experience in the management of an event and brand management.

2. Sports World meet the soldier. Ltd. has changed its name Infact, the company has brought together other investors to form a consortium to bid on the IPL franchise Kochi.

3. He pointed out that it was by the media that sport Rendezvous violated all the provisions of the Companies Act 1956, in the granting of sweat equity to Pushkar and now Shunanda Shunanda Pushkar surrendered voluntarily share, claiming that it hurt deeply.

4. BCCI claims that there is a clause in the bidding document and that there is no information to be public disclosure and the claim as "a requirement of confidentiality."

5. Any shareholder in the company, other investors do not have any complaint against the administration in the company.

6. The central government decided to consider the issue in the public interest and because of allegations of widespread, and was told that while the Ministry of Finance will consider the question of sources of funds, the Ministry of the company will consider other issues, such as non-compliance with the regulations, companies, etc..

There are a lot of complications in this case, and that is such as:

How to deal with the issue of "professional experience"?

How to look in the affairs of other investors, while the sport is dealwith the dates by the authority?

The existence of political pressure, etc., and heavy weights involved in this issue? And a large number of technical issues?

Health requirement of confidentiality?

The authority of BCCI?

The power to adjudicate in the forum to question the Bank of Credit and Commerce and Research Affairs in BCCI?

The legal status of the IPL and its constitution? Etc.

This is a classic example of multiple companies in a dispute or matter. On the assumption that such an order comes before the Board of Directors or the law of the company, is really a complex issue to dealwith in. Many of the documents and will be scrutinized carefully, and the facts to be considered in light of corporate regulations, and the principles of natural justice are to be followed and will take some time and this is certainly not inevitable. This is why, companies dealing with conflict is quite different from dealing with other matters. Orders urgent you may need to be passed, and the principles of natural justice are to be followed, and the officer needs to be good help through lawyers who represent companies and finally, the President may spend a great deal of time reading newspapers and listening to the issue and remember the important things, with notes and finally pass the necessary resolutions .

Note: The intent is to focus on the complexities of dealing with conflict companies and nothing more.

Kendrick Perkins

Kendrick Perkins
Magic lose fourth in a row, Philadelphia
Orlando's deteriorating and no longer had 70 points, while her neighbor to Florida continues to enjoy life. Rose recovered from the defeat hit, Griffin Mizgb the Kendrick Perkins and Dallas crushed the Suns without Nash
In NBA Things happen fast, and the short season only speeds up processes. A week ago, and some Orlando Feeling good about herself, but after four losses in six games later, including three nights in the Magic did not get to 70 points, we seem to contracts in the last days of Magic current format.

Philadelphia - Orlando 69:74. Magic start to feel the weight of Dwight Howard on his shoulders. Chin started the season very well let it last week he was ready to sign in Boston and Chicago is ready to sign, but the feeling is mostly that he was willing to sign the Tuba Zangria, just did not continue in Orlando - so it seemed. Tonight is also a Howard himself played more for Philadelphia, with 6 of 17 from the field and 5 of 13 free throws in front of a group only trained her chin is Tony Batty, soon 36.

Hsixrs teased fans screaming Howard "On the list", hinting that they are happy to accept it. Howard teased mostly his friends. "It's not the first time I called them to wake up," said Chin, "as a leader you have to do things that people do not like.

"People hate what they do not understand, and my friends understand me and agree with me. My job is to challenge friends and myself out to play every night." And that says it all. Aigodalh (14) and Turner (12) led the Hsixrs, Ryan Anderson took 20 rebounds and scored 14 Magic.

Clippers - Oklahoma City, 100:112. Beauty of a declaration of intent on the part of Clipper going and connect, and night after night won two of the groups with the highest quality in the west. First of Denver outside, now Thunder at home, after running 0:12 with a fall break that gave the tone. Chris Paul scored 26 with only four missed shots and 14 assists, but everyone will talk about the move at Mizgb Blake Griffin and Kendrick Perkins. And if you ask what it Lmzgb, look for Youtube the Griffin's dunk on Mozgob last season - then this.

Kevin Durant scored 36 and Russell Westbrook 31, but that did not help Thunder. Perkins, for his part, responded to the Dunk to "Hufsoorld": "Well, it happens. End of the day if you block, will drown you. He made a great move. I would probably prefer not to share it, but it was a great move. No doubt ".
Here's what we do now, boss

Miami - New Orleans 95:109. Already understood what it looks like running the Miami Heat, right? Hint: Click on the ball, kidnappings, burst, Liiafim, Dankim. In simpler language: running 23:54 over 18 minutes, finished the game mentally 45:33.

"When someone as pretty - and Wade got into the rhythm, should continue to fatten him up",
LeBron James said the group had shared his colleague equal 44 points. Wade also persuaded Eric Sfolstra run early in the move to that point, and the Heat started the engine and fled. Miller (14) and Norris Cole (12) contributed off the bench, with 14 of Jack and Landry.

Washington - Chicago 98:88. This time Derrick Rose did not find him the defense of LeBron James last five minutes, and not every other minute. Wizards let him score 35 points, peak season, helping the Bulls to a double digit advantage in the first quarter and then hitting another 15 to keep him in the third quarter. "Sometimes I found myself just watching him," admitted Trevor scored 14 Visa morning, "some of his shots were amazing." Carlos Boozer added 18 Bulls without Deng and Hamilton, Wall replied on 20 losers.

Phoenix - Dallas 122:99. Both groups came without starting quarterback, their injured veteran, but while Hmabrix enjoy great depth in every position, and can retrieve the specified image Rodrigue - Suns put the Sebastian Telfair, who for years did not do anything in this league. What also is not without Steve Nash Phoenix.

"We are fortunate and Nash did not play," coach Rick Carlisle said, "We can not ignore it. Our effort was consistent and balanced." Dlonta West, another quarterback, came off the bench in Dallas to 25 points and Vince Carter contributed 21.
Happy now, boss?

Houston - Minnesota 120:108. When the group sets two club records in one evening, you know that something good was going on with her. 42 points in the third quarter are the first peak, and 34 points to Michael Beasley, who came off the bench and missed only four times in all ranges (10 from 14, 12, 12) all night, are second. Thrown in. Kevin Love's 29 and 18 with 11 assists of Ricky Rubio, and you will win but quality.

Rick Adelman was a nice warm comeback city where coached the last four years, despite referring to her face contorted publications that miscommunication between him and his boss Les Alexander brought his dismissal. "I'm not a very wise man, but my boss I'm listening," Edelman commented. The game had better things to say: "We did not try to attack one delivery, but the ball moved from side to side. A lot of guys played and contributed."

Memphis - San Antonio 83:73. The night before, a loss in Dallas, Gregg Popovich went with his replacement in the fourth quarter and the extension. Other players roster is kept next game in Memphis, and Tim Duncan had 14 and 15 from Matt Bonner victory but deepened the spin (4 defeats in a row) of Memphis.

"I know everybody says we're not good at Beck - O - Beck," Duncan said, "This season is difficult, but it is exhausting for everyone. The loss yesterday failed us and we wanted to give an improved effort." Mayo scored 17 Memphis, Gay finished with 0 of 7 from the field.

Utah - Portland 89:93. Instability of the two groups continued. Blazers fell to -8:3 outside the home compared to 1:9 and the Jazz enjoyed Gordon's statistics straighten Heywood, who overcame the opening of 0 8 from the field to make major moves at the end. Blazers still led by 11 difference in the third quarter, but running 0:13 last quarter, with major contribution from the bench, transferred control to Utah. "The first player to the 13th, the guys did a great job just by remaining in the game. Even when he went, we stayed together." Milsaf led with 19 and 15 rebounds, with 25 of Aldridge.

Milwaukee - Detroit 82:103. Against the Pistons can do what you want the season - if it's a bench player like Steven Jackson a whole evening because of disciplinary problems or hit a peak season from the bench (Mike Dnlibi, 20). Hbaks Detroit sent the fifth loss in a row, when Brandon Jennings hits 21 and can hear his coach Scott Scales estimates S"cdi he would be All-Star, we have to be a positive record or close to positive ". Currently are 9:11, and I wish Detroit (Stuckey 19) did not come every day.

Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin
View monstrous dunk of the season: forward again exploded on the head of Perkins, Clippers provided the most enjoyable game of their season and won the Oklahoma 100:112

Great game brought together the two best teams in the West, the Los Angeles Clippers overcame the night on Oklahoma 100:112. Except that the Clippers showed the most enjoyable game of their season against the team with the best record in the league, the world was the moment when Blake Griffin let any obstacle that existed for him, and provided a monstrous dunk in the face of Kendrick Perkins.

Last season it was Timofey Mozgob unfortunate man who entered the pantheon as Blake Griffin singled out aggressively. Tonight, only player in Clippers diversity and virtuosity, and the victim was Perkins. "What made the move to so successful? Perhaps scheduling a delivery and I received the latest round," said Griffin. "When things are connected like that, you get such moves. It's not that I took a ball and I said 'Okay, I'm going to drown him.'"

U.S. commentators woke up this morning to the day when they are competing on who will shed more superlatives on Griffin who will analyze the phenomenon more deeply. The comparison Dunk on Perkins in question carried out last year, Clippers forward added: "This time my fingers hit the ring, so maybe it seems , but Chris Paul was this that drew everyone and actually let me use the road. Anyway, the reason I am able to do all these things, is the way in which his team plays, "he concluded modestly.

Despite 36 points from Kevin Durant and 31 more of Russell Westbrook, Thunder fell vanquished only the fifth time this season. Griffin himself finished the game with 22 points, Chris Paul led the Clippers with 26 of his own. "They're the best team we played against this year," said Thunder coach Scott Brooks. "They have it all:" young, talented and deep roster and they could go far ".

Royal Rumble Results

Royal Rumble Results
I want to tell you about one of the most, perhaps, unusual and misunderstood, especially outside world, the phenomena of American show business - a professional fight, that is to say "wrestling", also known as "Catch." Why I decided to tell about him and his respect for him today? Well, just do something, I was planning this post long ago, but today's biggest WWE - World Wrestling Entertainment - holds one of its main show, called "Royal Rumble", which is the crowning Battle Royal - "Battle" in the ring at the same time several dozen athletes - by the way, what is not an allegory to the current world political situation, "the struggle of all against all," to the finish in triumph as the only remaining party in the ring of "combat" operations?
Often served and still serves at times for those who stubbornly can not (or will not) understand American, and just do the modern culture, as evidenced by the very culture of the alleged decay, wrestling, however, like millions of inhabitants of different countries, from Germany to Japan and Mexico to British seas. I love it, and (alas, only as a spectator, although at one time, about 15 years ago, I thought to do them in real life, if not as a proper fighter, the "manager"), and even with doamerikanskih years, when the first grains of the American "mass culture" began to reach the outskirts to our newly created Palestinian on networks of independent television stations, among other things show such films as the cult of "Live" (They live) with Roddy Piper, and many fighters with polukomediynye until recently the most recognizable star of the sport, Hulk Hogan
By the way, looking ahead, tell Hogan - the most interesting character in many ways symbolizes the entire wrestling, as in a very limited arsenal of actual fighting techniques, he was extremely charismatic, and has become a kind of icon for many Americans, especially the younger generation, among other things, popularizing phrase, "Say your prayers, and drink your milk!" addressable correct (quoted and unquoted) scholar. Therefore, when in the 96th, he almost made the first "lift flip", changing the image of a good guy to bad, went into the "conspiracy" with a couple of other renegades - "a bully" Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, two-meter handsome not without humor, and philosophical and political interests - and creating a "New World Order", for many it came as a shock.
For wrestling in general, however - most likely, salvation, because at that time and attendance ratings broadcasts live shows both major federations were falling in the genre felt the acute shortage of fresh new and effective ideas, and the future of sport looks very disturbing.

Also, remember, and a couple of attempts to transplant this exotic at first glance, the genre, although it has prototypes in the amusing, circus and other gladioatorskih martial disciplines in many nations of the world in the early '90s, such as an all-female production of Catch in the transmission of "Hit-pipe ". By the way, I know that 7-8 years ago, Russia was the made an attempt to create their own federation restlingovuyu, alas finish it in bankruptcy. To be honest, I'm sorry, and I think the "big boys" of remaining in the ranks of American or Japanese federations, has been used it is useful to think about entering the Russian market, and who knows, in the long run, even on "Betl Royale" in Red Square. Smile. Well, that all-American KVN I already suggested, and now offer all-Russian wrestling. As they say, take the idea is still bad and not zakopiraychena.

Well, when I came to the United States, his first restlingovuyu program on TV I saw almost the next day. And fell in love with this strange form of entertainment for real. Why ask? As a person from an educated family can get involved just do something like this? Yes it is because of the intelligent! For those who think that Ketch - the lot of rednecks, I hasten to open a secret known to all who have eyes open and brains: Ketch is an art, a sub-culture, sublime and mimics many of the deepest human emotions, thoughts, instincts, and more! Not for nothing, and many fighters - such as the magnificent Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the same Piper ("in the world" - Roderick George Tumbs), modern Hulk Hogan - John Cena, the rapper turned-marines, and others, have shown themselves how different actors in the movie, but one famous once "real" movie actor, wrestling theme, one might even say, 4 years ago saved the creative life.
note the "eyebrow of the People" - a gesture, taken over a great comedian Dueyvnom John Belushi, and former some time the subject of a full-fledged hysteria
Pestling called "soap opera for men": here there and acting, often with higher poshiba. Ckazhu honestly, in most cases, I think the role of "bad" guy gives you more opportunities to show his acting qualities, because it provides a great depth of emotion for digging and ideas - and so, maybe not the only reason I from the outset "bad" characters, with rare exceptions, like the most. Remember, the "Nautilus" is a song, "I defended the boxer?" There are the words "I learned later that they pay money for something, that it knocked to the floor." Slightly change the text of the chorus with "I defended the boxer" to "I defended a fighter" - and will be quite adequate description of my personal relationship to Ketch.

A bit of history. As I said earlier, the sources are varied and Ketch go back to the ancient roots of different cultures, people have always wanted to produce "steam" the physical and emotional energy, preferably with no one actually does not kill, but at the same time a kind of ritual imitation of violence - as, for example, cats need At least Cloth mouse to sharpen its claws, and dog bones, plastic, in order to warm up teeth, and in this sense, America is, pardon the tautology, America has not opened. The modern Ketch began in English and French culture, the last 2-3 centuries as part of the circus and festival repertoire. Remember, for example, "Red Rooster", the loser Pippi Longstocking? Incidentally, this "grass roots" level of wrestling, and still exists, and even sometimes delivers the future stars of the "big leagues" - for example, an Englishman, Kenneth Matthews, better known as "Lord Steven Regal"
Look closely at more closely: what is not David Bowie? Only a well-battered lives and, in this case, it seems, still partying and rough

Especially when I began to follow closely the affairs of wrestling, the major federations were two: WWF (World Wrestling Federation), and WCW (World Championship Wrestling).
However, even then, 18 years ago, and now, was and is a huge number of small, "independent", and other regional federations. Actually, the first-"world federation" - originally grew out of one such "local", whose owner - Vince McMahon - bought out his father's own child, and in the early '80s he led an aggressive attack on the territory of the competition, conducting on- other states, concluding telekontrakty etc. "Championship" is also being originally one of many federations, though very old and respected by all, was purchased in the 88th year by Ted Turner, CNN founder and owner of the Goodwill Games. This act became the first business and saving the federation, and the entire WWE, creating a powerful competitor Makmenovskomu offspring, and pushing it to its own innovation, so as not to fail at all (and before that at one point was very close), and after a dozen years - in fact, the reason for its decline is due to reluctance of Turner's call for specific content limits allowed in the competition. In particular, Turner is known as a categorical opponent of the show of blood, and last but not least, I think, is it limited capacity "Championship" to compete with the "Federation", as well as unwillingness to play "on the verge of" erotica, and other "decency."

Not that I advocate the permission "of any Kaki" on television, much less public, but if somehow your product does not go beyond the bounds assigned by law, be prepared to do all of this facet tolerated, to win the fight for the top and the more to meet the aspirations of the consumer. Not willing to do anything to win-lose, as lost, "Chempionat." A pity, I liked them in general more Makmenovskoy federation, so that I could somehow, in the 97m said that media-empire of billionaire leftist Turner would be nice to dismiss, CNN and Time magazine to close, Jane forfeiture fund - only to leave WCW . And by the way, "New World Order", which I personally think the most brilliant idea in the history of wrestling, it has created WCW.
We see the unusual composition of this "team", which replaced to the same color with black and white on a black and red (as in Kinchev: "Black and red my color, but it is created, alas, not me ..)" symbol "WCW VorOnoobrazny" Sting "(in the world - Steve Borden, a fighter, never converted to other federations, and continues a successful career in Total Nonstop Action, the actual successor, WCW); Mexican" bully "Conan, a friend of Sting, once no less popular Lex Luger (the most likely winner of large muscles in sport), and already mentioned above, Kevin Nash. It is interesting that with the creation of "NWO" in wrestling has changed one important point: if the earlier script writers (and matches and tournaments are usually scheduled advance, although the actual course may vary according to the decision "puppeteers") decide who plays the "bad" guy and who is good, then a 96-year, with the advent of NRM and Steve "Stone Cold" Austin, determine popularity / hated this or a fighter who gave the most to the public. And it was that often, "hooligans" popular "altar boys".

It should, incidentally, be noted that for the most part, the violence in wrestling simulation, not real, and the simulation has reached a level of independent art. Try to get a dozen blows with a baseball bat, aluminum garbage bin, iron chair, a fall used under the ceiling gym, chop the barbed wire, and do not get really serious wounds and injuries!
The blood, too, or just paint or made invisible by tiny lezviykami cuts in places that are not zadevayuschuh vital functions. Steve Austin, which began with "radical change" in opposing federations McMahon and Turner in favor of the former, in fact it was "bloody" scene in the 97th year in a battle with the legendary Brett Hart, made a megastar
Hit all his courage and resilience of Steve before the villain is the largest in the Federation, has become a matter of minutes a favorite, and not only Ketch, refused to surrender even when losing the rivers of blood;
a "good guy" Bret, the most striking comes from the Canadian clan Hart, in their influence on wrestling is comparable, for instance, the clan Gracie in "Drake without rules", he began to suffer the whistle and the hostility of spectators - something that Bret before almost exclusively ever watch from the sidelines with respect to his rivals. That match was probably the most turning point in modern history, Ketch, because the fashion for "bad" behavior is gone with him, and further conflicts with Austin's "boss" McMahon, became a legend. However, it is less a victory for evil, but a kind of reincarnation of the good: when it kasalo important things, very few people behaved as nobly as the "Texas rattlesnake" Austin.

It was but two of the "big leagues", is a third, which had a huge impact on ketchevy world. It was called ECW - Extreme Wrestling Federation, and has produced a lot of interesting, "extreme" inventions, such as already commemorated matches "no rules" but with all kinds of valves, as well as a number of major stars who are athletes, the most influential of which, at least in the ideological sphere, is definitely Scott "Raven" Levy
A "good Jewish boy from New Jersey" had to own "ekstrimnogo" image forever gloomy misanthrope and leader of the gang of young ragamuffins frostbitten, to visit and "Flamingo", and the manager couple "Kvebekuarov" Johnny Polo - but really found myself in exactly ECW. And although the number of titles won his left far behind some other stars, for me personally, and many others, it always seemed that the contribution of the Raven in the ideology of wrestling the last fifteen years, perhaps the most powerful. Contemplate carefully: Why not a rock-prophet? By the way, in his "ternerovskie" years, Scott has used as an "entrance theme" "Come As You Are" Nirvana.

People from the "real" sport, too, at times go into wrestling. It is worth mentioning in this series of ex-NFL players as Bill Goldberg, who at one time the biggest star of wrestling, Steve McMichael, Quévy Green and classic wrestler and Olympic champion Kurt Angle Atlanta
Note the mask Rhea - Ketch is a tradition in Mexican, as well as the prevalence of being practiced in this country style of this amazing sport of "air" tricks wrestlers from Mexico are generally physically smaller than those from other countries (USA, Canada, Japan, - another country where "amusing battle" extremely popular, and has a huge element preskazuemo martial arts, judo from sumo to), and compensate for the lack of an incredible podvuzhnostyu and excellent coordination.
The Mexicans, as opposed to "mainstream" American Ketch, where sometimes even without a mask wrestler trying to disrupt the opponent with her in Mexico are extremely popular fighting "mask vs. mask", such as shown in the photo. In general, this Catch More and Masks show. Smile. By the way, Deliev & Co. is a great release of "Face to the rear of the enemy," where pripankovannye Soviet partisans attacking the Gestapo occupied the cabaret, so here there is also a "restlingovy" episode, who do not believe - that the Council review!

Of course, the great fighters of the past and present too many to remember all one's already a great article - here you and the "Cool" Freddie Blass, and "Superstar" Billy Graham (not to be confused with the same preacher), and "Triple H" Paul Levesque, and Chris Jericho, succeeded not only in the Ketch and in roknrolle, and Edge (Adam Copeland), and the king of extreme wrestling Mick Foley, and amazingly charismatic "Handsome Boy" Shawn Michaels (Michael Shawn aka Higginbottom), and Jake "Snake" Roberts, and gone to another world within my memory Eddie Guerrero, Davey "British Bulldog" Smith, and the tragic Chris Benoit, who committed suicide at the same time carrying away into another world his own wife Elizabeth gorgeous, young son and infant (the reasons for the commission by Chris the crime is still being debated: Toli doping, Toli Toli still that Depression, and maybe all together), and no less tragic, Brian Pillman - another former NFLovets.

Well, as no mention of the deceased because of otstegnuvsheysya lodge during the execution of the role of supergeroicheskogo character's younger brother Bret Hart, Owen's beloved!
As there have Makarevich, "Shame on you, remove the legs, do not you dare lie, and believe those who lied! A better stand up and remove their hats before those who entertain you today." Hats off to all of them, and many of those who did not have time to mention in the article, because to my mind was not just the best artists and personalities of people who loved and more willing to sacrifice himself for them and their expectations. Yes, among them there are those who abused drugs, doping, long time no contact with their families - but I think wrestling in this sense, hardly different from many other professions, whether it be a musician, especially a rocker, trucker, a professional soldier, actor, or even more Conventional film and theater.

But perhaps special mention among all the other professional wrestlers deserve "Gravedigger", aka "The Phenomenon", he Kolluey Mark. If the New World Order was the idea that forces every Monday and Thursday and at least one Sunday a month to wait for the invasion of "black suit" in life, "decent" ternerovskoy federation, Mark Kolluey with Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and later, "How," Johnson a revolution in Makmenovskoy league, each in his own way, and the "Gravedigger" Mark sometimes evoked a feeling that a little more and it will go straight from the TV in your room. Nicknamed the "phenomenon" it is vpolnhe zalsuzhenno as for more than 20 years of his career has been sent to another world at least once a year, and each time returned, and half the time used for digging 10 meters of land in front of the affected public and paralyzed by fear of competition.

It is not surprising that so far, the most important show of wrestling - "Reslmanii" - so anyone could make and did not win. However, there are rumors that this year it umopomrachayuschaya winning series may yet come to an end.

In general, Ketch is blood, sweat and tears .. and nail polish. Smile. What do you think really in a "hot" genre of show business, and do without the beautiful half of humanity? NIZACHTO! Do not I tell you that the fair sex can not be enemies weaker, and even stronger than the "strong"

two "teams", "good" Beth Phoenix and Natalya Hart (in the world - Elizabeth Carolan, Kochanski, and Natalie Hart .. imagine - I told you, the Hart-home ketchevaya dynasty!) and "evil" Michelle McCool and Layla El (these markups, oddly enough, both the real name). But these four beauties restlingovyh list, intelligent, Komsomol, and just athletes, of course, not limited to - there is also a Tory Wilson and Lita, and Trish Stratus, Stacy Kibler and (do not win titles but stunningly beautiful present girlfriend of George Clooney ), "unearthly" Marlena (aka Terry Rannels) and Mickie James and many others. By the way, I can suggest to view video on yutyubovsky song "Creed" "My sacrifice" so that all became clear aneveroyatno severe but equally interesting work, which these beautiful creatures is consecrated http://www.youtube.com/watch?v = WwugVA5pxOg

And of course, I should say a few words about the attitude of our countrymen, and wrestling. I called the article "From Kolov to Kozlov, WWE ready for anything" because "Ivan Koloff," along with his "nephew" Nikita Koloffym and other "Russian" fighter, Vladimir Volkov, were popular, usually (but not always) negative characters in Catch 80's and 90's, usually portraying medvedistyh "bolshevykoff" in the ear flaps

only for the sake of God, not outraged by wrestling in a grotesque form of lights and often makes fun of all kinds bstereotipy, and "under hand" were not some "red" Russian, and the Iranians - "Iron Sheik", this former bodyguard of the last shah, still very well known and popular in America, and the French, Germans and Canadians - they just do a 97-year was the whole "war", and of course the Arabs, but what in the late 90s and still a WWE segment about "stupid Americans" created, where "Asian Prince" from India jeered by local residents, causing them to literally lick the soles of his boots - of course, for the appropriate fee, somewhere in predelay $ 500. Bobschem, Americans just do, and "wrestling" world in particular, knows how to laugh, including at himself. Humor markups integral part ketchevyh show, and it is quite decent vosnovnom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqxVw1nfkiw

Well, Vladimir Kozlov - WWE star is the current year, the first "real" Russian. True, in fact, he ukpainets, from Kiev, and his name is not Vladimir Volkov and not, as Oleg and very even Prudius - but I think its authenticity is in no way undermines
The more so because he is a real-time U.S. champion and World Sambo - Kickboxing. Vobshem, meet in a dark alley - it is better to ask yourself money, watches and other services. Smile.

And last summer, in an already glittering world with all the colors Ketch started up yet, and "our" star - with the stage name Aksana, and in fact a native of Lithuania Zhivole Raudonene

Hopefully, in comparison with other great "Diva" she will not get lost, and bring in their home country treasury is not less gold than Evgeni Plushenko. Smile.

In conclusion, I will mention another commendable trait restlingovoy industry: magnanimity. When about 10 years ago, the World Wildlife Federation, seeing that the WWF acronym has become a popular drag-net, said the rights to it, McMahon & Co. graciously declined to challenge the rights and rename of "federation" in the "Entertainment". Well, the truth, this is not accompanied by "smooth" the slogan "Get the F out" - but because environmentalists as a result are left with what looked for, but the main thing, right?
So, today we have "Royal Rumble" - "Royal Rumble". We wish those who put at stake their health and life for our entertainment and experience the drama of the world in close proximity, success, and so that no one currently broke. And congratulated the winners in advance, because when this article is published, their names are already likely to become known.

Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall
Brandon Marshall broke the record shop Htatz'daonim meeting in Hawaii with four, one very remarkable, and led the AFC to victory

Super Bowl 46 was just around the corner and what that signifies the arrival better than in recent years is the traditional Hfrovol game, held tonight (the first two) Bhave tradition. So after the league's biggest stars, those who did not play Sunday in Indianapolis, took advantage of the last few days to forget the bitterness of playoff elimination or no to illegal immigration and have some fun on the island, they turned their attention to play. Game, Brandon Marshall Miami was the main hero and with a record of four Tatz'daonim Frovol He arranged a victory for AFC, 41:59 on the NFC.

As always, Hfrovol played in a relaxed and took place mainly to fill the clips Hheiliits League and Marshall, who was selected outstanding player in the game, saved it and celebrated with a Touchdown in any quarter, including one particularly astonishing delivery of quarterback Young of Cincinnati Andy Dalton, it took Marshall when he lies on his back in Handzon. Dalton changed the game for Tom Brady, who of course never came. The Eli Manning changed the way Cam Newton, when the AFC ranks also plays Philip Rivers and Ben Rot'lsbergr and with Drew Brees and rival Rogers closet.

The group specifically NFC opened well and led 00:14, deleted advantage until the first quarter. Victoria Azarenka

Victoria Azarenka
After having a champagne shower, little sleep, and lots of congratulatory messages, including an email from Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko, Azarenka was due to fly out of Melbourne late last night bound for Los Angeles and then Boston.
She has put aside celebrations of her maiden grand slam win to travel halfway round the world so she can play for Belarus against the US in Fed Cup at Worcester, Massachusetts.
Waiting for her will be Serena Williams, still smiting at being knocked out of the Australian Open's fourth round, and Venus Williams, still waiting to play her first match for 2012 after an immune illness rubbed her out of Melbourne calculations.
"It will be fun. I love playing against Serena. I think she's a great champion. We've had a lot of good matches together. I'm up for anything," Azarenka said. "It's cool. But I want to enjoy these couple of days before I get there. I'll think about it when the time comes and I'll be ready."
Serena Williams has not played Fed Cup since 2008. Her return signals her desire to play for the US at the Olympics, where Fed Cup participation is required along with a top-60 world ranking.
She is also a five-time Australian Open winner and will be licking her lips at the prospect of facing the newly minted Open champion. Azarenka is the 21st different women's champion since the Open era (1968) and coincidently she's the 21st different world No 1 since the WTA computer rankings began in 1975.
The double coming-of-age couldn't be more deserved. The 22-year-old may have an ear-piercing scream but she also has a heart of gold. She has financed the building of a country house outside her home town of Minsk, the Belarusian capital, as a 25th wedding present for her parents Fodor and Alla. Her 73-year-old grandmother is moving in too.
"It's got a little garden so my grandmother can do her stuff in there," said Azarenka, who credits her family for giving her the work ethic to succeed.
Azarenka cracked the $10 million mark in prizemoney with the $2.3m cheque for beating Sharapova on Saturday night. Not only did it become her 10th career WTA singles title, it puts Belarus in the record books.
The last woman from Belarus (at that time part of the USSR) to play in a grand slam final was Natasha Zvereva, who lost to Steffi Graf in the 1988 French Open.
Max "the Beast" Mirnyi has won eight doubles titles in grand slams, including the 2007 US Open with Azarenka. But no Belarusian had lifted a major singles trophy until now.
"Emotions are too much, I can't really relax yet," Azarenka said yesterday reflecting on her 82-minute 6-3 6-0 win over a six-time finalist in Sharapova. The tall Russian, whose parents were raised in Belarus, has three grand slam trophies and told Azarenka to cherish her prize.
"I am very hungry. I want to be better and better every day I step on to the court, or do work in the gym," Azarenka, now on a 12-match winning streak, said.
"I think people have much more motivation to beat me. But that's really exciting to go on court and have someone on the other side who really, really wants to beat you. I'll enjoy that challenge so much. I enjoy the battles, enjoy the moments.
"We get the chance to be somebody we want to be. Some people never get the chance. I've been building my mountain, climbing, rock by rock. It doesn't matter how I got here really, I've enjoyed the whole journey."

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods
Robert Rock held his nerve Sunday to beat U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship for the biggest win of the Englishman's career.

The 117th-ranked Rock shot a two-under 70 for an overall 13-under 275 to beat the 22-year Northern Irishman by a shot and the 14-time major winner by two. Woods finished in a tie for third with Thomas Bjorn (68) and Graeme McDowell (68).

Woods started the final round tied for the lead with the unheralded Rock. He appeared poised to win his second tournament in a row after ending a two-year winless drought with a victory last month at the Chevron World Challenge.

But the control Woods displayed for much the weekend abandoned him Sunday and it was Rock who held it together down the stretch.

"I didn't hit the ball as well as I would like to," Woods said. "Today I was just a touch off. I was righting the ball through the fairways. I was hitting the ball a little bit further than I thought I would … So something to look at, and something to try and figure out."

Woods started strong and it looked like he might pull away from Rock, sinking a 40-footer on No. 2 for a birdie and then chipping to within a foot of the cup for a second birdie on the 3rd. But Rock -- who said Saturday he was a bit overwhelmed to face his idol -- didn't blink. He also birdied the first two of three holes to keep pace.

Then Woods began to unravel.

He started spraying his drives into the thick rough and fairway bunkers, resulting in the first of three bogeys. When Woods wasn't missing the fairways, he was scrambling to save par as he did on the 11th when overshooting the green. As he approached his shot in deep rough just off the 11th green, he sighed heavily and let out a stream of obscenities under his breath.

Woods managed to save par on 11 by sinking a 12-footer and Rock just missed a birdie putt. Woods pumped his fist and appeared to be regaining the momentum when he pulled within one shot of Rock on No. 13 when the Englishman had one of his three bogeys. But the 34-year-old Rock birdied two of the next three holes to seize control.

Rock wobbled on the 18th when his drive landed in a pile of rocks near the water -- forcing him to take a drop. But he recovered beautifully, reaching the green in four and then two-putting for the win.

The loss is the second straight time Woods has failed to win with at least a share of the lead after 54 holes. He lost the Chevron World Challenge in 2010 after going into the final round with a four-shot lead over McDowell.

Woods acknowledged it wasn't the way he wanted to start the 2012 season but said he took solace from the control he showed the first three days and the putts he made over the final three days. He missed out on his 84th win and the fifth time in nine years to open the season with a victory.

"Obviously the ultimate goal is to win and I didn't win," Woods said.

"I hit the ball good enough to win the golf tournament this week," he said. "Today I just didn't give myself enough looks at it. Most of my putts were lag putts. I didn't drive the ball in as many fairways as I should have. Some of the balls were running through. Other balls, I was just missing. It was a day I was just a touch off off the tee and consequently I couldn't get the ball close enough to give myself looks."

Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova

Russia's Maria Sharapova insisted the best was still ahead of her despite a devastating Australian Open loss to exciting young Belarusian Victoria Azarenka on Saturday.

The three-time Grand Slam winner went into the final full of confidence against Azarenka, who was playing her first major title match, but her game went to pieces for a 6-3, 6-0 loss in just 82 minutes.

Despite being only two years older than Azarenka at 24, Sharapova has far more experience than Azarenka and has been playing on the big stages since her teens and won Wimbledon in 2004 as a 17-year-old.

But with some of the greatest names in the sport watching on, including Rod Laver and Margaret Court, it was Azarenka who played like the veteran and Sharapova the nervous debutante.

"She did everything better than I did today. I had a good first couple of games, and that was about it," Sharapova said bluntly.

But Sharapova added that while she was disappointed at the heavy loss, she was looking ahead to the rest of the year with optimism.

"Obviously to get to the final is a good achievement, but to end up being the one that loses is always tough, no matter what sport you're in," she said.

"But I'm proud of the fact that I made it this far. It's been a few years since I've been in the finals of the Australian Open.

"It's a good start to the year for me. I have a lot to look forward to this year."

Sharapova won the last of her three Grand Slams in Melbourne in 2008, before shoulder surgery later that year knocked her out of the sport for nine months and set her career back on its heels.

"It's frustrating, but I have a pretty good head on my shoulders in terms of having a good perspective on sport and life," she said. "And as hard as it is and as much as you want to be the champion, there's only one.

"That's why the feeling is so special when you do achieve that. That's why the work is so hard and extreme.

"That's why the pleasure that you get and the excitement is what you work for, because you know how special it is."

She said those moments were the reason she had worked so hard on her rehabilitation and on regaining her place among the elite.

"I don't regret the work that I put in at all, getting to this stage is great for me, especially not having played matches for three months," she said.

"I honestly didn't know what to expect health-wise and game-wise. You just don't know.

"So to be at this stage is good for me. That's why I'm looking forward to the rest of the year."

Sharapova's best surface is grass and with the Olympics in London a month after Wimbledon, she has a realistic chance of adding more titles to her collection.

"Personally it's something I've been looking forward towards for a long time, and that's a big goal of mine," she said. "To have a long grass season will be really fun."

Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova
Maria Sharapova will meet Czech Petra Kvitova in a semi-final of the Australian Open tomorrow.
Sharapova overpowered compatriot Ekaterina Makarova 6-2 6-3 in the quarter-finals on Wednesday while Kvitova beat unseeded Italian Sara Errani 6-4 6-4.

Their clash will be a repeat of last year's Wimbledon final which Kvitova won in straight sets.

Kvitova reached her first Australian semi-final after snuffing out a brief fightback from Errani in the second set.

The clear favourite, the No.2 seed broke serve in the opening game of the match but found herself staring down a service break in the next as the pair fought for an edge.

The Czech took the crucial break to win the first set in 53 minutes before Errani battled her way to a 4-1 edge in the second set.
That was where her challenge ended though as Kvitova won the next five games straight, amassing three match points and sealing the clash after Errani netted a return.

"I expected a tough match because she has been playing well and also today played well," Kvitova said.

"Backhand or forehand, I never knew where the ball would come to so I had to concentrate on every point and always think about tactics."

Sharapova had won the Australian title in 2008 but that August she underwent shoulder surgery and was sidelined for 10 months.

But on Wednesday the fourth seed displayed a pinpoint serve and power-packed returns to overwhelm Makarova.

She cruised through the first set in 42 minutes but had to fight to seal the match as Makarova saved three match points.

Sharapova eventually clinched a berth in the semis in one hour and 27 minutes.

"It's been a long road back but after all those winning points it's been worth it," said Sharapova, who anticipated a tough battle against Kvitova.

"She is playing the best tennis," she said.

Both Sharapova and Kvitova have a chance of becoming the world No.1 at the end of the Open.

Ekaterina Makarova

Ekaterina Makarova
"DISASTROUS" was how Serena Williams described her performance against lowly ranked Russian Ekaterina Makarova, who sent the five-time champion packing at the Australian Open yesterday.
Williams served up seven double faults and hit 37 unforced errors to make a shock fourth-round exit.
"I served horrendous," she said.
"It was just disastrous, really. She played really well and she deserved the win. I know that I can play a hundred times better than I did this whole tournament."
Williams did not move as well as usual around the court against Makarova and the Russian made her pay, sealing a 6-2 6-3 victory.
Williams was reluctant to blame the ankle injury she suffered in Brisbane.
"I honestly think it was on my racquet - I hit a lot of errors, she hit some great shots down the line. But every ball that came, I just hit it as far out as I could," she said.
"Obviously I'm not 100 per cent, and I haven't been, but it's no excuse."
At No.56 in the world, Makarova is only the eighth-best woman in Russia on rankings.
But that has counted for little as she has swept aside 25th-seeded Brisbane International champion Kaia Kanepi and No.7 seed Vera Zvonareva.
Post-match, it was almost as though she could not believe the upset she had pulled off against Williams.
"I won against Serena - that's amazing," she said after reaching her first grand slam quarter-final.
"I played her in Beijing and I was really afraid because she's a great player and it's really tough to play against her. But this time, I don't know, I felt so comfortable. I really thought I could beat her. Maybe in my head, that helped me."
Meanwhile, Martina Navratilova has tipped Petra Kvitova as the next big star of women's tennis, saying Caroline Wozniacki doesn't cut it.
The 18-time grand slam champion took a swing at the Dane yesterday.
"Clearly nobody feels that Wozniacki is a true No.1," Navratilova said.
"If we still had the same ranking system we were using six years ago, when they were giving bonus points for beating players, Kvitova would have ended up No.1 because she had beaten more top players than Wozniacki.
"Wozniacki doesn't even have that great of a record in her career or the last four years over the top 10 or against the top five, whereas Petra, you feel really imposes herself on the match and any player."
Asked whether Wozniacki deserved to be No.1, Navratilova said: "It's not about deserve. She's No.1 because that's how they set up the computer ranking."
Navratilova wants a weighting to reward players for beating higher-ranked opponents.
She said that Wozniacki had not won a slam title was "irrelevant".
"I think if you won 15 tournaments and not slams, you're No.1 because you have the best record," she said.

Laura Dekker

Laura Dekker
IN HOLLAND and in Britain, the father of Dutch sailor Laura Dekker has been criticised for encouraging her to sail around the world at the tender age of 15.

Even The Times, which might have been expected to applaud such chutzpah, used an editorial yesterday to say it was "a bad decision that sets a terrible precedent for other children tempted to risk their lives".

Yet surely the world would be poorer if, across history, brave young men and women had not set out to do their own thing - often, it should be noted, supported by their fathers?

Laura Dekker joins the pantheon of teenage heroes. Here are seven others:

Alexander the Great
Alexander was only 16 when his father, Phillip, left him in charge of the kingdom of Macedon so he could go off warring. Alexander didn't let being a whipper-snapper hold him back from soundly routing an attempted Thracian uprising, repopulating their land with Greeks and founding a city there, Alexandropolis.

Marco Polo
Polo was 17 when he left his home in Venice with his father and uncle and set off on a series of adventures that lasted 24 years. His travels were later recorded in a book, Il Milione, which was largely responsible for introducing Europeans to Central Asian and Chinese culture.

Joan of Arc
Being burnt on the stake at 19 may not sound like the hallmark of success. Let us not forget, however, that by 16 Joan had ended the Siege of Orleans, which had lasted for eight months, in just nine days, thus turning the tide of the 100-year war against the invading English and leading to the coronation of the French king Charles VII.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
The child prodigy's prodigy, Mozart didn't waste any time with daft notions of formal schooling. After proving himself precociously talented musically by the age of five, he then spent much of the rest of his youth touring Europe with his father and dicing with small pox but still went on to write some of the most beloved music ever heard.

Mary Kingsley
Mary had no formal schooling either, but she did have a father who was passionate about travel and put his daughter to work researching and taking notes for his study of comparative religion. When he died, leaving his work unfinished, Mary headed off to Africa to complete it, producing books in which she did her best to enlighten European views of Africans as savages.

Charlie Chaplin
Had Chaplin gone with what the authorities had planned for him, he would have languished in a pauper's school in West London. Instead he was determined to improve his situation and headed into the world alone at 12, chiselling himself out a career as a child actor which led to his becoming the most successful entertainer of his day.

Louis Armstrong
Having already been a sketchy attendee, Armstrong dropped out of his New Orleans school aged 11. He learnt to play trumpet by hanging around in dubious bars and brothels, and never looked back at any of it with remorse. "Every time I close my eyes blowing that trumpet of mine - I look right in the heart of good old New Orleans...It has given me something to live for."

Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki
Caroline Wozniacki's reign as the queen of tennis, in its 66th week, has been gritty rather than glorious, and three excellent pretenders – Petra Kvitova, Victoria Azarenka and the enigmatic Maria Sharapova – are rattling the palace gates.
The Dane has to reach the quarter-finals here to stave off an insurrection and, to get there, she has to beat Jelena Jankovic . The world No13's match against the American prospect Christina McHale was moved to Rod Laver Arena at the last minute, but did not live up to its centre court billing as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win in an hour and 19 minutes.
Wozniacki might have been dethroned already had Azarenka not faltered against Li Na in Sydney but, as the incumbent, she is progressing through this field smoothly enough and made short work of a tricky assignment against the Romanian Monica Niculescu in the third round .
"She got a lot of balls back," Wozniacki said after beating the 31st seed 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 16 minutes. "With her slice forehand, it was tough to finish out the point sometimes. But I felt like I was in control."
Was she anxious about the prospect of losing her No1 status – particularly as she has yet to win a slam title? "To be honest, I've proven myself for the last two years," she said. "I've finished No1 twice in a row. For me, the most important thing is to keep improving. If I do that, I know I can play on a very high level. If you win matches in tournaments, then the ranking will be there automatically."
What she cannot control is the destiny of her rivals – and Azarenka looks in menacing form. She shelled Mona Barthel with tough, crisp ground strokes on Friday, against a backdrop of that awful screech, and, after an hour and 28 minutes moved on with a 6-2, 6-4 win to go with her earlier easy workouts, which began with her 67-minute dismissal of Britain's Heather Watson on day one.
On Wednesday she blew away the Australian wildcard Casey Dellacqua, again giving up a single game, but had to endure the cruel mimicry of the crowd. Did she hear it, and did it bother her? "I'm not deaf," she said. "I have no problem with that at all. I knew it's gonna happen. They wanted her to win bad. I respect the crowd, whatever they do. I try to just be focused on my game."
However, the lukewarm reception she got after winning suggested the enmity is gathering. While Azarenka might not the most popular player here this fortnight, she is one of the best. This could be her time. "The main difference is I am much stronger physically [than a year ago]," she said. "I feel I'm on a little bit a roll right now. But it's still a long way."
The first week of the women's singles is a bit of a phoney war. Shots are fired but not a lot of serious damage is done. There are those who do not regard these as mismatches. Such wide-eyed charity is touching.
Azarenka next plays the Czech Iveta Benesova, who looked solid disposing of the Russian qualifier Nina Bratchikova 6-1, 6-3 in an hour and 10 minutes. "She's a very tricky opponent," Azarenka said. "You don't know what to expect with her. Sometimes she goes for her shots; sometimes she misses her shots."
Not the deepest analysis of the art of an opponent's game, but accurate enough. Benesova, who generally stays stuck to the baseline, like the rest of her generation, came to the net four times, but each one paid a dividend. Her judgment and temperament seem in good order.

Skier Sarah Burke

Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke has died from injuries sustained in a training accident.
Burke, 29, helped bring freestyle skiing events to the Winter Olympics, and was considered a gold medal contender for the 2014 Games.
She was injured in a superpipe accident at Park City in the US state of Utah on 11 January.
Tests showed the freestyle skier had sustained "irreversible damage to her brain", a family spokeswoman said.
'Defining skier'
Burke, the four-time Winter X Games champion, crashed on the same superpipe where snowboarder Kevin Pearce suffered a traumatic brain injury during a training accident in late 2009.
The best-known athlete in her sport, Burke specialised in skiing the superpipe - a version of a traditional halfpipe with walls over 5m (16ft) high.
"Sarah, in many ways, defines the sport,'' Peter Judge, chief executive of Canada's freestyle team, said before she died.
"She's been involved since the very, very early days as one of the first people to bring skis into the pipe."
"She's also been very dedicated in trying to define her sport but not define herself by winning. For her, it's been about making herself the best she can be rather than comparing herself to other people.''
'Inherent risks'A native of Midland, Ontario, Burke won was named female action sports athlete of the year by TV network ESPN in 2007.
Burke tore her vertebral artery as a result of the fall, which led to severe bleeding on the brain. That caused her to go into cardiac arrest on the scene, where CPR was performed.
"The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the international outpouring of support they have received from all the people Sarah touched,'' Nicole Wool, her spokeswoman said.
Burke's organs and tissues were donated as per her wishes.
The sport's leaders defend the safety record of the superpipe and other freestyle events, pointing to requirements for mandatory helmet use, air bags on the sides of pipes during practice and better pipe-building technology.
"There are inherent risks in everything,'' Mr Judge said prior to her death.
"Freestyle is a very safe sport in large part because we had to build a safe sport in order to get into the Olympics.''

Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali
"Age is whatever you think it is. You are as old as you think you are."
Search the internet for famous one-liners from legendary boxer Muhammad Ali and you won't have to look very far.
He is probably the most quotable sportsman in living memory, so it was no surprise when the man who many thought had kissed the blarney stone was found to have Irish roots.
The three-times world heavyweight champion, who celebrates his 70th birthday on Tuesday, took time out in 2009 to visit Ennis in County Clare, the home town of his ancestor Abe Grady.
Frankie Neylon was the mayor of Ennis when Ali was given the freedom of the town and said it was a dream to meet his childhood hero.
He said that despite suffering from the onset of Parkinson's Disease, the international superstar had lost none of his charisma.
"It was one of the greatest days Ennis has ever had," he said.
"Thousands of people came from all over the world and all over Ireland.
"We thought he was only going to be with us for 30 minutes, but he arrived an hour before the visit.
"He spent about five hours here in total when we were expecting a flying visit.
"If you could have bottled the atmosphere that day you would have made great sales.
"People were speaking to each other in a way you would never see."
Mr Neylon said one particular moment from the day remained in his memory which he felt illustrated Ali's powerful personality.
"I always remember this young fella he approached who was in a wheelchair, this was in front of seven or eight thousand people," he added.
"It was in the Turnpike Road area where his ancestors were from.
"Amongst everyone there was this silence.
"Muhammad Ali bent down and put his arms around the young fella, it was a fantastic moment, a powerful human moment."
Ali has visited Ireland on a number of occasions, fighting Al 'Blue' Lewis in July 1972 at Dublin's Croke Park and attending the opening of the 2003 Special Olympics.
The contest with Lewis was part of a worldwide tour he embarked on after his defeat to Joe Frazier in 1971.
During his visit, Ali was reported to have talked with everyone from politicians such as Irish Prime Minister Jack Lynch and Mid-Ulster MP Bernadette Devlin to roadsweepers, pub revellers and the actor Peter O'Toole.
It reflects the global impact of the man and how he could straddle different generations and backgrounds.
Manchester UnitedBBC boxing commentator Jim Neilly has encountered Ali on a number of occasions and said the last time was when he was awarded the title of the corporation's Sports Personality of the Century in 1999.
"I remember after the event the Manchester United first team were there and were queuing up to meet him and get his autograph," he said.
"They had a game the next day and their manager Alex Ferguson was wanting to get them on the coach.
"These players, including David Beckham, were earning hundreds of thousands of pounds yet they were queuing up like little boys wanting to get their programmes signed.
"He was tired and after a while his wife had to eventually say that is enough."
Mr Neilly recalled as a child watching the then Cassius Clay secure Olympic gold at the 1960 Olympics in Rome and said that his talent was illuminating.
"I remember as a young boy at primary school watching him win the Olympic gold in Rome at light-heavyweight with Eamonn Andrews commentating," he said.
"Even as an amateur in Rome in 1960 you could see he had fantastic ability.
"He brought tremendous speed of thought and hand and a completely new dimension to heavyweight boxing."
